When the LED is on, some heat is also released. This heat is absorbed by the radiator and most of the heat is released into the environment, helping to extend its life. Fluorescent lamps and light bulbs are not compatible with radiators, so they tend to be very hot to the touch, and over time the heat will wear away their components, reducing their lifespan.
Another aspect that distinguishes LEDs from other types of lamps is that they are directional, so instead of emitting light in all directions, they only emit light where it is needed, thus using light and energy more efficiently.
