The difference between high bay and low bay lights

In the field of lighting, there are many terms and functions associated with specific lamp types. If you are unfamiliar with lighting or want to learn, you can try to understand the difference between high bay lights and low bay lights.

What is a high bay light?
High bay lights are usually used in places where the distance from the surface to the ceiling is 20-40 feet high, and they generally appear in industrial areas and some commercial centers that are higher from the ground.

What is low bay lighting?
Low bay lights are usually used in places where the distance from the ground to the ceiling is less than 20 feet, and the most common is home or public buildings with a short ceiling distance.

What is the difference between the two?
When considering high bay lights and low bay lights, the ceiling height is always very critical. This is because the designs of the two lights are different, and the scenes used are different. According to the needs, choose the type that can meet the needs. For example, the most critical difference is the concentration of light diffusion. Most high bay lights use reflectors to help make the light diffuse downwards and outwards in the scene from a long distance as required. Compared with low bay lights, high bay lights also require a higher lumen output to compensate for the greater distance. The brightness suspended on such a high ceiling is definitely difficult to achieve the ideal state, so a higher lumen output must be used to compensate for this gap and better illuminate any area in the space.

Why is it important to make the right choice?

Many people worry that the wrong use of lamps will have a negative impact. Although the result will not be bad, it will still affect the sense of use of the space. It is obvious that the use of low bay lights at a height of more than 20 feet will make the brightness of the space lower, and the use of high bay lights at a height of less than 20 feet will make the overall brightness of the space too high and more costly. Therefore, from a long-term perspective, it is often necessary to choose a suitable lighting solution based on the height of the ceiling and the desired effect.
